Unique Design Style for Your Living Room

When decorating your living room, there are dozens of different design styles to choose from. It’s important to remember when decorating your living room that you want to like the style and be comfortable in the room, since you’ll most likely be spending a lot of time there. Here are some different living room design styles for you to consider.

Contemporary Design Style
Typically, a contemporary living room will have very neutral colors and elements with just a few pops of color and design here and there. You might have a dark gray sleek couch, for instance, and then add a couple of purple throw pillows to it. With contemporary style, the lines of the room should be soft and rounded, and the overall look of the room should be kept very minimalistic. One approach to contemporary design in the living room is to keep the colors monochromatic with just a splash of white here and there to break things up.>

Cottage Design Style
A cottage design style usually showcases plenty of color with graceful patterns and lines. Often, when people think of cottage style, they may picture floral patterns and pastel plaids. A living room look that is comfortable and inviting is usually achieved with a cottage style décor. Comfortable and plush furniture with puffy pillows work great with this decorating style. Colors such as cream, pink, light green, and light blue work great in this design style.

Romantic Design Style
If you want a more formal look for your living room, choose a romantic style décor. Typically, light and airy fabrics are used in a romantic-styled living room. With this décor, expect to use a lot of white, cream, silver, and other pastel colors. You can add a twist to things with some touches of floral. Add a little pattern to the room with a lightly colored area rug or a few decorative pillows to create some interest. With this design style, the furniture should be delicate and light—not overbearing.

Eclectic Design Style
If you are having a difficult time settling on just one design style for your living room, consider choosing a few different ones that are your favorites. An eclectic style will incorporate several different design styles together in one décor. For instance, your walls can appear modern, while your furniture might look like it can from a cottage style room. However, you do need to be sure that you’re able to pull the look together. By choosing common colors, textures, or patterns, you can make the room appear more cohesive. When choosing a design style for your living room, you need to be sure it matches what you ultimately want from the room. If you want a more formal look for your living room, then consider something like a romantic design. On the other hand, if you want a more casual space, then a cottage-styled room might be a better fit.
