Some Notes on Collectible Art Glass for Home Decor
October 20th, 2008 Posted in Home DecoratingThere are lots of interesting kinds of collectible art glass out there. One popular one that goes well with many home decorating schemes is Amberina. This red to gold glass often starts with a red base, blending to an amber or gold colored rim. Popular for display around the holidays, Amberina and coral glass are a great choice. They’re often mistaken for one another, but are made differently.
Etched glass, cameo glass, millefiori, threaded glass and aventurine glass are other popular collectible glass types. Hobnail glass is a style that was common in the 1940s and 1950s. Others that collectors love include carnival glass, Depression glass, and uranium-treated Vaseline glass, which is harmless, but glows under ultraviolet radiation. Another popular collectible is fine crystal.
