How The Kitchen And Kids Go Together
July 28th, 2010 Posted in Home ImprovementWhen someone said that the kitchen is the heart of the home, they must have had children. If you have kids, then you know that you spend a lot more time in the kitchen than you ever did when you did not have kids.
The weekday mornings in the kitchen can be something to marvel at when you have kids. If your kids are in school, the time spent in the kitchen in the mornings for breakfast can be tricky. Your goal is to make sure that everyone gets in a nutritious breakfast while at same time getting to school and work on time.
If you remember the time before the countertop microwave, then you know exactly how much time is being saved on those kinds of mornings. Many kinds of frozen goods meant for breakfast are available. All you have to do is put them in the microwave for a few seconds and you have a hot breakfast. This sure beats a cold bowl of cereal everyday to save time in the mornings.
If you really want to save time in the morning before work and school, then you should make your kids lunches at night before you go to bed. If you want to be able to take the time to put in notes or other things to make your child’s lunch a little special, then making it at night is the best.
Making it through the week will mean looking forward to the time of the weekend. This is the time that you should spend with your children. Taking the time out to cook with them is a great idea. They will learn safety in the kitchen and have fun with you at the same time. Wait until you watch your child use that sharp knife for the first few times. Remember how you always kept that knife set up and out of reach? It will not seem so long ago that your child was just a baby.
Cakes and cookies are the favorites of everyone in the family, especially the kids. What is even better for them is when they get to help in the baking of these sweet treats. You can make some great memories with your kids when you get out the cuisinart hand mixer out and start making a cake.
Your children will not be little for very long. Some days it may seem that you will never see them through to their eighteenth birthday. However, you will reach that day before long and when you do, you will wish for them back as toddlers more than you will believe.
