Home Extensions : Tips On How To Create Extra Space
March 6th, 2010 Posted in Kitchen DIYTo have a few extra meters of space can do wonders for ones home. You can get all that unwanted clutter away from sight and you can give a new lease of life to an old room. Or you could build on and to use a the extra space for an office or even an extra bedroom.
Whatever you may need, you should first ask a professional builder to quote you on different types of extensions available. Do not try the DIY way unless of course you are a builder already.
Take for instance a conservatory. You can choose from Edwardian to Victorian. They are all really beautiful to have as an add on to your home and can offer space, light and ambiance to any area. You could even grow a few exotic plants as well.
It it’s something more solid you are after, then consider the brick and mortar route. You could build on with anyone noticing the added space. The new room will blend in with your surroundings perfectly. Why not move all your home storage shelves across to create a new storage facility which is dedicated solely for that purpose.
Of course there is another option to extend and that is by building a log cabin in the back yard. Now your dog with his extra large dog bed can be comfortably housed without having to take up all the space in the kitchen or the lounge. It is cheaper than the options above and easy to erect. You can order a ready made cabin which will be installed in sections by the company. You could add a small veranda with a roof so you can also sit in the garden admiring your new space.
Many people also opt for a loft conversion (assuming you have a loft), for either a teenager or for yourself of course. Do make sure you get an experienced person who does loft conversions for a living, and knows exactly what he is doing. This room is especially cozy in the winter months where they can study or read from a latest digital book reader, or do homework and be a teenager who can play his music a bit loader than before.
Ways to extend or create space are endless, you just need to work out for yourself what it is exactly that you or the family need. Once you are there, you can take the next step in deciding on what your new space will look like.
