Delta Model DP300L-Simply outstanding

December 28th, 2008 Posted in Tools and Equipment

I was blown away when I first saw the Delta model DP300L.  Not only does it have all the features of the big boys but I can actually afford it.

A great new power tool that I can buy right now.Not with this little gem.

This model comes with a reasonable price tag and all the bells and whistles only seen on the high priced models.

A Power Tool lovers dream.

Adjustable Twin Laser pods

Fully Adjustable Twin Laser pods project bright red crosshairs on the workpiece at point of bit contact.I Love Lasers!

I don’t know about anyone else but I am always eye balling the location of the cut and sometimes my eye lies to me making a silly mistake that costs me time an money.

This little feature makes hitting the right spot every time easy.

Induction motor

The induction motor makes for a long lasting, smooth performing operation.Complete any operation with the 1/3 HP Motor.

Body of Drill Press

A six inch distance between chuck center and the column make this a good size drill press, not too big and not too small.

Drilling the center of a 12 inch board is a snap and the quill travel is a decent 2-3/8 inches.  Plenty for any drilling or sanding job.

Whatever material you are drilling, wood, metal or plastic, the Delta DP300L offers a wide range of spindle speeds to use.Speeds range from 620 RPM up to 3,100 RPM.  It is a simple operation to change speeds.  Simply slip the belt onto the appropriate set of pulleys.

The table is a good 8-1/2 by 9-7/8 inches and it easily tilts for angled drilling. Surprise, the table has an accommodation for c-clamping along the edge.  That’s something you would normally only seen on a higher priced drill press. There is also an auxiliary table mounted to the column that holds an assortmentof bits and other stuff.  Great idea!

The table uses a very precise rack and pinion system to move it up and down and when locked in place it stays in place.

Extras that make it a winner

If you have ever had trouble getting lighting on your work this solves the problem.  It comes with an outstanding integrated goose neck lamp allowing you to light up the work surface.

Two lasers project a bright red crosshair on the work surface showing exactly where the bit will contact the material.  It is powered by a 9 volt battery which you must provide, but that is a cheap price to pay for this feature.  Calibration is simple and the results are outstanding.

The Delta DP300L is a great drill press.  It is really not necessary to bolt it down but it can be if you prefer.

Bottom line here is the Delta DP300L is a reasonably priced, feature packed Power Tool that any shop would do well to own.  You simply cannot beat it.

Way to Go Delta.
